It was luck, we were lucky the Soviets didn't give Castro complete control of the missiles. we were also lucky Kenndy didn't invade. (SQJA)
ReplyDeletei agree cause he does have a say in the way things go with the missles..he also less of right to declare missles more then president because of the fact he is military.

It was very lucky that we didn't get into a nuclear war. The Soviet Union were ready and willing to launch their missiles and kill millions of people. Kennedy did a good job to create a blockade and get the US out of danger.
ReplyDeleteI think we were pretty lucky to avoid having missles come and hit us. They could of cause a huge crisis on the U.s and maybe eventually the world. Cuba could of easily decided to attack but lucky they didn't.
ReplyDeleteNo, i think that by the US creating a blockade and threatening to bloackade persuaded them not to bomb us. Wihtout us making a deal and just hoping they didnt bomb us they could have seen that it was easy and done it.
ReplyDeletethis is emma i forgot my number sorry
luck yeah but all luck deals withthe planning it was centered on
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky that we had a good goverment that knew enough not to invade becuase the fate of the world was basically resting on theirs shoulders
ReplyDeleteChristian G
yes because the blockade was an act of war. good thing we didnt. another thing was america could have crushed cuba if we did go to war
ReplyDeleteWe were very lucky we didn't get into a nuclear war. The Soviet Union were willing to launch their nuclear missiles and kill millions of innocent people. Kennedy did a good job for creating the blockade and getting the US out of danger.
ReplyDeleteI agree i think we got lucky we didn't get into a nuclear war. The soviets were ready to lauch, but kennedt did a good job with the blockade and kept us out of the war.
ReplyDeleteIt was luck, It was very lucky of us. We had no control of what they were gonna do. If we would have dropped the bomb, and honestly they had what they said they did. American would have been in big trouble. It was blind luck.
ReplyDeletebmnp
It was luck that cuba did not use any of the nukes against the U.S. If Cuba would had shot off a nuke it would had started a war. So it was a slim chance of luck that they just didnt shot off a nuke at the U.S.
ReplyDeleteI deffiently think we got lucky with not getting into a war. Because, things were already prepared to go for war. And, Kennedy got us out. So I agree.
ReplyDeletei agree that we were very luckly. If we got into a nuclear war it would've affected many americans. the population in america would be much lower, cause of radiation -MBJA
ReplyDeletei aggree with that statement because it was luck that kept us outof nuclear war. we were lucky that we didn't invade cuba because if we did then they would have definately fired the missles.it was definatly a good thing that we had the blockade to keep any moremissles out of cuba. we were also lucky that castro didnt have compleat controll of the missles because he would have fired them
ReplyDeleteto continue my comment the choice and responses were both lucky for the U.S. because they led into one another in our acy of war we were not attacked and there for did not go to war but the fact that they removed thethreat left us more room to "relax" on the thought of nueclear attacks it also led to us withdrawing our weapons and the end of the cold war this was all luck and of a good kind for the U.S.
ReplyDeleteit was luck that keep us out of war with the soviet union because they where ready and had nucular missiels in cuba pointed right at us and they could easily have hit us at any time
ReplyDeletei agree also that it was luck that keep us out of the nuclear war because that could have been a matter between life or death and losing life as we know it so i believe that it was luck that made us not enter that part.
ReplyDeletetbrc
no, because if it was luck then we could have got out of the previous wars with luck, but we didn't. i say the way we got out of this war was how we negotiated with the soviet union.
ReplyDeletewe were lucky that we didn't get into a nuclear war. The Soviet Union were willing to launch their missiles and kill millions of people. Kennedy did a good job to create a blockade and get the US out of danger.
ReplyDeleteI think we were pretty lucky that our president didn't decide to invade. It would have made things a lot worse. We're also extremely lucky THEY didn't invade US. Or launch their missiles first. We were lucky to be able to come to a mutual agreement to both back down and remove our weapons.
ReplyDeleteyes because if the blockade could have made them mad and use there missiles or the could of said that they would take out there missiles if the U.S did and only take some out and use them after the U.S took theres out.
ReplyDeleteCYNW
i think we were lucky in a way and i also think that we made them realize what they were getting into by creating the blockade they kinda got scared. in the fact that we were lucky the soviet union was going to bomb us which would kill millions of people and they didnt. everything that everyone did was lucky. we all did they right thing because they never killed anyone!
ReplyDeletei dont think it was luck at all. this is just another classic example of america showing its natural superiority over all other countries. even if it was luck we still would have won because america it the best country ever and always will be
ReplyDeleteBXUR
It was luck that we made that blockade cause if we didnt millions of lives would have been lost. All of the events during the Crisis was all luck!
ReplyDeleteWe were pretty lucky when we didnt get hit with the missiles, but also some of it wasnt luck at all, just good judgement. We never went in to invade Cuba which was a good choice because then they really would have fired the missiles. And with the Soviet Union we managed to make a blockade toward them and thus making it so that they couldnt hit us while we had to deal with Cuba. Somehow these events went so well that nothing happened and everything went well, and no one got hurt in the process.
ReplyDeleteit wasnt luck it was just america acting like its good ol superpower self if you ask me we sorta deserved it we have missles pointed at them why cant they have them for us
ReplyDeleteSNMU
Yes i agree the US was very fortuante we didnt get involed, and our president played a big roll in making sure this didn't happen, because if we had invaded cuba im sure things would of been negative. It was luck and would of had a long lasting effect on everyone if it happened.
ReplyDelete.KOAN.
I don't feel in was necessarily luck, it was more maturity and good judgement amongst our different leaders such as Kennedy with creating blockage. He saved us... without his knowledge and empathetic sense with a side of good knowledge he saved us!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think that it was luck that kept us out of war. I believe that everything was well thought out on both sides. The blockade was a way of saying 'We don't like what you're doing, but want to avoid war'. Even if the Soviet Union had attacked us and declaired war, neither side would have gotten anywhere in battle, just leaving a path of distruction that would have been difficult for both countries to handle. It was clear that both sides wanted to get their point across without blowing each other up and had to think before making their dicission.

I think that Robert McNamara was wrong about the Cubans not bombing us being lucky. In other words, I believe that it was not luck, but rather, strategy that kept Cuba from bombing us. I think this is so because we did not make any rash decisions such as invading Cuba or raiding to get the missiles and we managed to make a blockade because, which meant that our strategy was half the reason that they did not bomb us. Because of our calm, non-rash decisions, we did not provoke the Cubans to use the missiles that they had. Also, the Cubans probably realized that firing missiles and destroying most of the U.S. could potentially cause a nuclear war that could destroy far more than what they originally would. In summary, I believe that our strategy and the Cubans' common sense were the reasons that the Cubans did not fire the missiles, not just pure luck.
ReplyDeleteacqx
I disagree with SLAX. The decisions made by us such as not to act rashly and to use less actions and more words, and the strategies such as the blockade were not luck. They were effective methods used by us, and because of these, we were able to prevent war. The Cubans did not just magically decide to not launch the missiles. The acts made by the U.S. and the knowledge that using the missiles could cause a devastating war that they had were pure strategy. They had nothing to do with lcuk.
ReplyDeleteacqx
i don't think it was entirely luck. were we lucky to not get hit by soviet missiles yes, but the soviets saw that the cubans were trigger happy. there is also the fact that we acted diplomatically not on our fears. we decided to act with words instead of actions. i believe that this is what kept us from being hit
ReplyDeleteno, I think they gave up because of the embargo and kennedy promised the if they did it they wud bomb the soviets and blow cuba out of the water.
