Did either side really win the Cuban Missile Crisis? The United States agreed to take out missiles in Turkey, the Soviets took them out of Cuba. How did the crisis impact further relations with the Soviet Union?

I dont think either of us won the cuban missle crisis. The crisis impacted relations with soviet union because they have missles and try to drop the missles

Neither side won the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Soviets took their missiles out and so did the US. they removed their missiles from Cuba while we removed ours from Turkey. It was a mutual agreement for world peace
ReplyDeletei dont think either side won we both gave up nuclear missiles it was a good mutual agreement between Soviets and the U.S.
ReplyDeleteJamal Washington
ReplyDeleteI think that both won because the U.S didnt have to start a war between cuba and Cuba didnt have to use the nucks on the U.S which would had just started a nuclear war and no side wanted that
Did we win?! I think thats hilarious. There was no win. America was punked. We were warned of what Cuba could bring, and we backed down and scowered away, so they backed off... How exactly did we win? They laughed in our face as they told us what they could do, and we got scared. then they stepped off... that was not something you win, it was to scare us.

I think Jamal's opinion doesnt matter...
ReplyDeleteno. neither side won the cuban missile crisis. because both sides backed down and took their missiles out of the place they were at.this impacted the relations because we werent too friendly with the ussr after the cuban missile crisis because ussr gave cuba the missiles.
ReplyDeleteno neither side one the cuban missle crisis because, they basically negotiated there way out of it.
ReplyDeleteI dont thank any one really won but U.S did what they had to so that the U.S would not be a risk of getting attacked by the USSR.
ReplyDeleteCYNW
No i dont think any side won the crisis because both agreed to take missles out of places that could harm the other, but in the end the crisis showed that the soviet and the US could reason with one another
ReplyDeleteThe Soviets won. I don't think they really planned on using the missles, they were just trying to scare us into removing our missles. And since we no longer had missles near them, they felt they could move more freely. The soviets used good military tactics.

It was pretty much a mutual decision between the U.S. and Cuba. We both removed our weapons and nobody really won or lost. We basically decided to not like the Soviet Union after the cuban missile crisis because they provided cuba with the missiles in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI dont think that either side won the cuban misile crises. i do think they both benefitted by compromising and agreeing on not to bumb either country. Because no one was hurt the US probably had more respect forcuba but i doubt they got along very well after the crisis
ReplyDeletethe removal of both sides weapons was not a lose but a win for both sie lost great threats and it leads to the a stand off or stale mate that in turn ends the war(though not sure why even after they changed leaders they didn't attack)though the changes were not bad and in a way they are thought of as a benifit for "democracy" spread
ReplyDeleteThe Cuban Missiles crisis was tough. I think both sides won. The US blockade Cuba inorder to stop Cuba's imports. With that the US got the USSR to remove the missiles. And for doing the US remove thier missiles from Turkey so both won, and war didnt start.
ReplyDeletei dont think anyone really won as we both took our weapons out of the country. they came to us first saying they would do something and then found out about all the weapons in turkey so we agreed to take them out as we got scared and reasoned with them. we didnt win but they kind of did as they got what they wanted which was no more stuff in turkey! what a great idea but then again we didnt get bombed!
ReplyDeleteNeither side won anything. It was a mutual agreement after threats. Mainly because neither country wanted to take a hit just cause they made the first hit. As far as removing the missiles goes we both won.
ReplyDeleteneither side won because they both did what the other country wante them to do. they both agreed to take the missles out of their country that they had them in.this affected the relationship between soviet union and the U.S. because the U.S. didnt really like the soviet union because they were the ones who gave cuba the missles
ReplyDeletejamal u cant spell. i mean what are nucks?
ReplyDeleteAmerica definatly won the crisis because russia and cuba backed down first and the only reason that we took our bombs out of turkey is because we know that we dont need bombs to destroy russia because we are so much better than them. we could take out russia in less than a year without using any bombs. ever since then russia has been jelouse of us because they know how crappy their country is and how awesome ours is.
ReplyDeleteanthony andros is retarted
ReplyDeleteI don't think either side offically won, though each side had a different positive spotlight on different situations.
ReplyDeleteIt seemed like at the time America did win... Though at the same time it was a mutual ending with the United States not bothering Cuba(communist country) from this day.
No one really won that crisis because there was no attack in the first place. We took our missiles out of Turkey, and then the Soviet Union took it out of Cuba. Because of the way both countries handled it, there was no real war, making it so that there is no real winner since there was nothing to win. Everyone just wanted the nonsense to stop before everyone on this Earth was in critical danger. Our decisions were made based on the decisions of others and following the best example so there wouldnt be any unnecessary deaths.
ReplyDeleteI do not think that the U.S. or the Soviets won anything. None of us accomplished anything, really. In my opinion, we both obeyed what the other country wanted. Since we both agreed to do what the other country wanted, it would only be considered a truce made after several empty threats. The Cuban Missile Crisis did impact our relationship with the Soviets by making them lest trustworthy because they were the ones who supplied Cuba with the missiles, and making them more of our enemies, making it take a long time to become allies with them.

i dont think eaither side won both sides really just gaveup and didnt really care won we traded and so did they..
ReplyDeleteSQDM
I feel no one won anything. Yes it was a great thing they came to these decsisons but at the same time i feel they should of. It was what was best for everyone, I also feel it did make their relationship solid to be able to trust one another in the future.
ReplyDelete>KOAN<
no we really did not win anything they did not either so hey thats that yeah we really shouldnt be proud of it
ReplyDeletesnmu
I agree with KOAN. No one won anything, but I also disagree with his comment saying that it was easier for us to trust the Soviets, because THEY were the ones who supplied the Soviets with the missiles, and the U.S. would obviously have a harder time time trusting them knowing that they were one of the causes of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

I believe that neither side actually won. Although the united states accomplished the mission of removing nuclear missiles from cuba, they did not fully eliminate the threat of nuclear war. The united states and the soviet union still remain world powers and they still possess the strength to wage nuclear war. The only real success from the cuban missile crisis is that the soviet union and the united states learned the risks that are faced if there are no negotiations. They came very close to facing complete destruction of life. Now, the two countries would do everything possible to avoid nuclear war.
ReplyDeletethe way i see it is no one won anything...and it was most likely a good thing that the us removed the missiles because that would have caused more problums....
ReplyDelete>tbrc<
I think no one won the crisis because there was no fighting going on. U.S took their missiles out of turkey and S.U took theirs out of Cuba.
ReplyDelete-MBJA
ok first of all i have to say that cliff's was the best comment on here. like whoa! but he's on the debate team so it's not a surprise to me.
ReplyDeletei believe that the Cuban Missile Crisis was never won by either side. neither side won although the united states removed the nuclear threat from Cuba, and the Soviets no longer had a threat in Turkey. it was a mutual decision between the parties to both remove their nuclear missiles. there is no victory or defeat over either country, therefore the cuban missile crisis cannot be labelled as a victory or a loss for either side. today, the two sides are still major super powers.
Neither side won or lost the missile crisis. They won the crisis for being able to remove the bombs that placed in extremely threatening positions, but they also lost the crisis because for not being able to remove the problem completely. Therefore no one could win or lose.
ReplyDeleteAs far as relations with the Soviet Union goes, the US lost a lot of trust with the Soviet Union during that time and I doubt that the trust was something the US had or will ever receive.

No one really won the Cuban Missile Crisis. It seems more of an agreement that they had. Because, there was no war towards the crisis. The US found the missiles and thats all that happened. It was put down peacefully.
ReplyDeleteI think that no one won because all they did was move these weapons and it was done. no one got punished or anything. the only thing that happened was they scared us and we're like ok lets do what they want. i also think that trade with cuba was a good thing but because of this.
